The main components of toothpaste include friction agent, adhesive, detergent, wetting agent, preservative, aromatic agent and water. Friction agent mainly makes the toothpaste have friction effect and enhances the stain removal effect. The commonly used friction agents in toothpaste include calcium carbonate, calcium hydrogen phosphate, calcium pyrophosphate, silicon dioxide and aluminum hydroxide. Silicon dioxide is the main type of friction agent for toothpaste at present. Precipitated white carbon black has a large total specific surface area, strong adsorption capacity, many adsorbed substances and uniform particles, which is conducive to improving transparency. Because of its stable nature, non-toxic and harmless, it is a good toothpaste raw material. The silica used in toothpaste is mainly produced by precipitation method. The dosage is generally 20-30%.
1. preparation of silica by precipitation method
1.1 gel method
A uniform hydrogel can be obtained by reacting a certain concentration of acid and alkali (alkaline silicate) under acidic or alkaline conditions, and then aging, crushing, washing, hydrothermal treatment, drying and crushing.
1.2 precipitation method
Under certain conditions, the acid and alkaline silicate solution are precipitated and reacted, and the loose and flocculent precipitated SiO2 particles are obtained without forming gel. The precipitated silica obtained by this method is a product with high structure, high oil absorption value and large specific surface area. This method is mostly used for thickening precipitated silica for toothpaste.
1.3 aging method
Acid and alkaline silicate are added to the aqueous solution containing dielectric at the same time to maintain a certain pH value. After the alkaline silicate is aged at the same time, continue to add acid to the end of the reaction, and then filter, wash, dry and crush it. The precipitated silica obtained by this method is a low structure product with low oil absorption value and strong particle close friction. This method is mostly used for friction precipitated silica used in toothpaste.
