1.What is hydrated silica?

Hydrated Silica (English name Hydrated Silica; Silicondioxidehydrate), also known as white carbon black , also known as light silica, the main component is silica, white amorphous powder. Light Loose, soluble in caustic and hydrofluoric acid, insoluble in water, solvents and acids (except hydrofluoric acid). High temperature, nonflammable, tasteless, odorless, with good electrical insulation. Its performance is similar to carbon black , but it is white.The molecular formula and the structural formula can be represented by SiO2 · nH2O, where nH2O is present as a surface hydroxyl group. Its macroscopic structure is similar to carbon black, the particles are spherical, single particles between the surface contact, was chain-like structure (secondary structure). Chain structure and hydrogen bond force to form a group of aggregates. The original particles are very fine, absorb moisture in the air to form aggregated fine particles. Silica particles on the surface of hydroxyl particles, mainly isolated hydroxyl, adjacent hydroxyl, silicon three (see Figure 2,3). 2.Is silica safe?

Finally, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recognized silicon dioxide as a safe food additive, as do the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

According to a paper prepared in association with WHO, the only negative health effects related to silicon dioxide have been caused by silicon deficiency. In other words, a lack of silicon dioxide may do more harm than too much.
