The amount of frictional silica used in toothpaste formulation is generally 18%~22%[2]. It is an ideal drug toothpaste abrasive because of its good frictional force without damaging teeth and good compatibility with fluoride. Moreover, it is similar to the refractive index of the liquid system of toothpaste, and the paste is transparent, so it is also the only abrasive for preparing transparent toothpaste. Thickening silicon dioxide can increase paste viscosity and make paste stable, but it can only work with other adhesives, and the dosage in toothpaste is very small [4]. With the improvement of the preparation technology of silica used in toothpaste and the introduction of new products, silica products with different properties and specifications, such as friction, thickening and mixing, have been produced for different types of toothpaste.

Performance comparison of 1.3 friction type SiO 2 with other abrasives
Abrasives account for a large proportion of toothpaste formulations, generally between 10% and 50%, and the grade of abrasives determines the grade of toothpaste.
