What is loss on dry of silicon dioxide?
The loss on dry of precipitated silica means under specified conditions,the amount of weight reduced by drying to constant weight.It is usually expressed as percentage.For precipitated silica ,the lower loss on dry,
the higher content of SiO2.
Method of anyalytical test loss on dry of SiO2
○ Equipment :Weighing flask, thermostatic drying oven, analytical balance
○ Method
① double sample measurement
② Weigh 2g of sample, counted as m0, put it into the bottom of weighing flask, and weigh m1
③ heated at 105 °C 1.5h
④cover the cover and move it to a desiccator for cooling, and weigh m2
○ Calculation
Loss on drying X=m1-m2/m0
M0 is the weight of the sample
M1 is the weight of the weighing flask and sample before heating
M2 is the weight of the weighing flask and the sample after heating
