Application of silica in coatings and inks
White carbon black has thixotropic property. Adding a small amount of white carbon black to the coating can eliminate the drop settling phenomenon of the coating. In the unsaturated polyester coating, as long as 0.5% - 2% concentration of white carbon black is added, the coating can be applied on the vertical surface 500g / m2 at a time without droplets and wrinkles. Adding white carbon black to pigment can not only imitate the precipitation of pigment, but also improve the adsorption and dispersion of pigment and painting. When used as the filler of emulsion coating, it can improve the thermal stability. In order to meet the requirements of coatings and ink matting agents for white carbon black, special matting agents have been developed and produced abroad. When nitrocellulose varnish and similar coatings contain precipitated self carbon black matting agent. It can improve the non precipitation property of the paint, make the paint easy to disperse, only a small amount of thickening effect, good suspension, excellent extinction characteristics, high transparency and good wear resistance. Adding 0.5% white carbon black into printing ink has a good printing effect, which can eliminate the influence of undispersed ink penetration, improve the washability of printing materials, and increase the glossiness of color.
In addition, silica can also be used in pesticides, medicine, adhesives, toothpastes and daily cosmetics to varying degrees and play a variety of beneficial functions.
It can be seen that silica has a wide range of uses and functions. Due to the late start of research and production of silica in China, the research on product application has not been fully launched, and the application field is still very narrow. At present, it is mainly used in the production of tires, rubber shoes, rubber parts and sundries for textile and latex products. In the tire industry, the consumption is not large. In other fields, it is basically blank, or a small amount of trial. Therefore, it is still an important task to continue to develop the application research and production of series products with different uses. Superfine and surface modification are the most important problems to be solved.
