In the rubber industry, and particularly in the tire industry, it is known that reinforcing fillers are added to elastomer compositions in order to improve their mechanical properties. Carbon black is the most widely used reinforcing filler due to its high reinforcing capacity. However, it endows products with strong hysteresis, that is, it increases the heat dissipation under dynamic conditions. In tyres, this leads to an undesirable increase in rolling resistance and overall higher fuel consumption, resulting in more pollution emissions and higher transport costs.


"Green tire" is widely accepted by the public for its comfort, safety, environmental protection and energy saving characteristics. However, at present, domestic precipitated silica products generally have the problem of too slow curing rate, which leads to the need to increase the number of sections during rubber mixing, thus increasing energy consumption and reducing productivity in tire production. In addition, Mooney viscosity is high, easy to stick to rollers, poor processing performance, and low plasticity of rubber, which seriously affect the mixing of rubber materials and restrict the use of silica in tires.


The silicon dioxide reinforced tire tread with a very low specific surface area, and the tire tread with an elastomer composition reinforced by silicon dioxide, has improved performance tradeoffs in terms of wear resistance, rolling resistance, grip and offset thrust compared with the conventional tread reinforced by silicon dioxide with a higher specific surface area for "green tires".
