SiO2 98% for Silicone Rubber
The reason why the reinforcing agent can improve the hardness and mechanical strength of silicone rubber products is that the surface of reinforcing agent particles contacts with silicone rubber macromolecules to produce physical adsorption, while the active surface of reinforcing agent particles and silicone rubber molecular chain combine to form a solid chemical bond to form "bonded silicone rubber", which has both physical and chemical effects.
The precipitated silica particles contain various silanol groups. IR spectra showed that there were e-hydroxyl groups on the surface of silica: siloxy group, isolated light group and hydrogen bond. The one si-0-bond in the molecular structure center of silicon dioxide has polarity and great binding ability, which makes the surface activity of silicon dioxide particles large and can interact with silicone rubber molecules. During mixing, the silicone rubber hydrocarbon radical of the molecule breaks to form free radicals, which interact with the surface layer of silicon dioxide - oh. In addition, the amorphous crystalline disorder of silica particles leads to the formation of electrostatic field on the surface layer, which induces the unsaturated double bond of silicone rubber polymer and promotes the combination of the two.
